The Ghanaian military is also recruiting professional to join the. Force Short Service Commission officers.
Fields For Short Service Commission:
Besides the minimum requirements, candidates must meet these standards based on the field the want to join in the Force:
a. Engineer Corps:
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years by 15 February 2025 and must have any of the following:
- Civil Engineering with Masters in Sewage Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering with Masters in Building Services
- Civil Engineering with Masters in Structural Engineering
- MSc/MBA in Project Management with First Degree in any Building Environment Discipline.
- Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years working experience in the relevant field of application and must be a registered member of GHIE or requisite Professional Body, in good standing and with a practicing License and Certificate from the regulating Professional Body. Preference will be given to candidates with Masters.
b. Engineering Branch (Air Force Only)
Mechanical
- Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering and Agric Engineering or a related field.
- Two years experience in the industry
Avionics:
Masters Degree in any of the following:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Telecommunication/Computer Engineering or a related field
- Two years experience in the industry.
Armament:
Have Masters Degree in any of the following:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Mission Equipment or a related field.
Two years experience in the industry.
c. Supply Branch (Air Force Only):
Possess a Master’s certificate:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Marketing
- Procurement
- Commerce
- Economics
- Logistics
d. Legal
Applicants must not be more than 35 years by 15 February 2025. Must have a First Degree from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:
- Bachelor of Law, LLB.
- Called to the Bar and must have completed Pupillage.
- Must have one (1) year work experience.
e. Medical
- Not be more than 40 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Medical and Dental Specialists.
- Not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Medical Officers, Dental Surgeons and Optometrists.
- Should not be more than 33 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Specialized Nurses, Midwifery Officers, Pharmacists (PharmD) and Certified Registered Anaesthetists.
- Should not be older than 30 years of age by 15 February 2025 for Nursing Officers, Clinical and Social Psychologists, Radiographers, Sonographers, Respiratory Therapists, Physician Assistants, Public Health Officers, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Biomedical Scientists, Insurance (NHIS) Officers and Health Services Administrators (Masters/Bachelors degree).
Specific Qualification:
Those applying should possess the following specific entry qualifications:
- Medical and Dental Specialists: Applicants must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship or its equivalent from an accredited College. Applicants must have a permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and be in good standing.
- Medical Officers and Dental Surgeons: Applicants must have an/a MB ChB/BDS degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Applicants must also have a permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and in good standing with at least one (1) year post-permanent registration work experience would have an added advantage.
- Optometrists: Applicants must have a Doctor of Optometry degree plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration as an optometrist. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
Physician Assistants (Medical): Applicants must have a BSc degree in Physician Assistantship from an accredited institution plus at least one (1) year working experience in an accredited health facility. Applicants must have permanent registration with the Medical and Dental Council (Ghana) and be in good standing.
Dieticians: Applicants must have a BSc degree plus at least one (1) year working experience in an accredited health facility and be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council. - Biomedical Scientists: Applicants must have a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science (DMLS) degree plus at least one (1) year working experience as a Biomedical Scientist in a Medical Laboratory facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Insurance (NHIS) Officers: Applicants must have a Bachelors degree in Acturial Science or Insurance plus at least one (1) year post-national service working experience as an Insurance Officer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Pharmacists: Applicants must have either a: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as a Pharmacist. All must be in good standing with the Pharmacy Council, Ghana.
- Specialized/Specialist Nurses: Applicants must have a BSc degree/Membership in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-Operative, Emergency Care, Plastics & Burns, Paediatrics, Ophthalmic Nursing, Nephrology Nursing and other specialties with at least one (1) year working experience post-permanent registration in a recognized health facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
- Midwifery Officers: Applicants must have either a: BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years practice post-permanent registration or BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution and a Diploma in Midwifery (RM) with at least one (1) year practice post-permanent registration.
All must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
Nursing Officers: Applicants must have either a: BSc degree in Nursing from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years practice post-permanent registration or
BSc degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and a Diploma in Nursing (RGN) with at least one (1) year practice post-permanent registration.
All must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. - Health Services Administrators: You must have a BSc/Master’s degree in Administration (Health Services option) from an accredited institution and must have completed the mandatory national service. Applicants should also have at least one (1) year work experience post-national service as a Health Services Administrator and be a registered member in good standing with the Association of Health Services Administrators, Ghana (AHSAG).
- Clinical and Social Psychologists: Applicants must have an MPhil/MSc Clinical or Social Psychology degree from an accredited institution plus one (1) year work experience in a recognized institution as a Clinical Psychologist post-permanent registration with the Ghana Psychological Council and be in good standing.
- Radiographers: Candidates must have a BSc degree in Radiography and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as a Radiographer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Occupational Therapists: Applicants must have a BSc degree in Occupational Therapy and should have practised for at least one (1) year post-permanent registration as an Occupational Therapist. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Sonographers: Applicants must have a BSc degree in Sonography plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration as a Sonographer. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Respiratory Therapists: Applicants must have a BSc degree in Respiratory Therapy plus at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration in a recognized health facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Biomedical Scientists: Applicants must have a BSc degree in Medical Laboratory Science/BSc Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution plus at least one (1) year work experience as a Biomedical Scientist in a Medical Laboratory facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
- Certified Registered Anaesthetists (CRA): Applicants must have either a: BSc degree in Anesthesia from an accredited institution with at least two (2) years work experience post-permanent registration or
BSc degree in Anaesthesia with Advanced Diploma in Nurse Anaesthesia with at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration.
All must be in good standing with the appropriate Regulatory body. - Public Health Officer (Environmental): Applicants must have either a: BSc Public Health (Environmental Health) from an accredited institution with at least one (1) year work experience post-permanent registration or
BSc Public Health (Environmental Health) plus the West African Health Examination Board Diploma with at least two (2) years work experience post-permanent registration.
All must be in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council. - Chaplain: In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 and have the following:
- First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Theology or Religion (BA) from a recognised University/Theological Seminary/College.
- An ordained Minister of the Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbyterian, SDA and the Church of Pentecost and be recommended for commissioning into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of the Church. .
- A minimum of four (4) years pastoral working and probation/internship experience including two (2) years post ordination service in the pastoral field. .
- Ability to speak English and at least one of the main Ghanaian languages fluently..
- Imam
In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 35 years of age by 15 February 2025 and have the following:

- First Degree not below Second Class Lower in Islamic Theology (Religion) from a recognized University, Islamic Institution or College.
- An Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
- Fluent in both spoken Arabic and English Languages.
- Ability to read and write good Arabic and English Languages.
- Practised as Imam for four (4) years and be recognized by a recognised Islamic Religious Institution/Body in Ghana.
- Recommended for commission into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of a recognized Islamic body in Ghana.
