New Job Posting At UNESCO Accra

There Is a job vacancy at UNESCO Accra office. The organization is hiring a Communications Assistant, Photographer/Videographer. This is a contract work planned to last for  duration of 1 year (with possibility of extension). Please keep in mind that this role is open to only Ghanaians.

Background:

The position occupant will provide high-quality photographic and videographic coverage of UNESCO’s activities, ensuring compelling visual documentation that supports the organization’s communication goals. The individual will work closely with the Programme Sectors, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), and the Global Communications teams to showcase the organization’s impact in Ghana and beyond.

Key Tasks:

  • Provide principal photographic and video documentation of association’s activities and projects (FCDO, Japan, and Mastercard Foundation), working closely with Programme Sectors to capture relevant images and footage. Edit photos and short videos to highlight firm’s achievements and impact.
  • Generate high-resolution photography and videography to illustrate specific stories, events, and key milestones, providing written descriptions where necessary.
  • Capture images of individuals, groups, and events at field locations, ensuring all photographs include detailed captions with geographical location, names, quotes, or short descriptions when required. Obtain consent before capturing images of individuals particularly in field locations, and adhere to ethical guidelines for visual storytelling and data protection.
  • Provide a minimum of 15 selected images from minor events and at least 30 high-impact images from major events immediately after the event in electronic format, along with the full set of original images following each assignment.
  • Work closely with the office’s Public Relations Officer and the Global Communications teams to provide imagery for newsletters, articles, and promotional materials while identifying best practices and innovative interventions for impact storytelling and knowledge sharing.
  • Edit and archive photographs with detailed metadata for storage and retrieval, maintaining an organized and searchable Photo Archive for the Office.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and inventory management of UNESCO-issued photography and videography equipment.
  • Support any other photography-related tasks, including photo research and digital post-production.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Communications, Media, Graphic Design and/or Digital design
  • At least 1 year of extensive experience in photography and videography, particularly in documenting development programs, humanitarian work, or social impact initiatives.
  • Proficiency in photo and video editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, etc.)
  • Strong storytelling skills, with the ability to create compelling visual narratives.
  • Ability to work in field locations and capture dynamic, high-quality images under various concutons.
  • Experience in media engagement and working with international (including UN agencies) or local media organizations is an advantage
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for archiving and data management.
  • Excellent communication skills and abilitv to work collaborativelv with different teams
