About YEA
In 2005, the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) was renamed the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to address the growing issue of youth unemployment, which was viewed as a potential threat to national security.
It was formally established in October 2006 and operated under the auspices of the Office of the President without legal authority.
The government chose to rebrand and reposition the Agency as a Public Service Organisation in order to better serve the countless unemployed youth.
October 2012 saw the birth and launch of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Agency (GYEEDA) to replace NYEP.
