Ghana Immigration Service has issued a message of Caution with regards to rumors about the release of Appointment Letters for their 2021 Recruitment.

They have urged the public to read and take note of these things to avoid misleading information surrounding the GIS 2021 recruitment.

Disclaimer

The attention of the GIS has been drawn to an online publication on a purported release of Appointment Letters by the Service. The article continues to share what it says is the content of the alleged appointment letter.

The GIS by this issue dissociates itself from the website namely avenuegh.com. The site should not be construed for an official website of the GIS. The Service has not commissioned the site and thus cannot vouch for any information published there.

The Service proceeds to dissociate itself from the specific publication mentioned above, and all such on the website. The official website of the GIS remains www.gis.gov.gh.

We also wish to state strongly that Letters of Appointment are ONLY issued to successful applicants in person and not shared through social media.

Management of the GIS, therefore, urges the public to seek accurate information from the official website of the Service (www.gis.gov.gh) and desist from counting on unreliable sources.

OBJECTIVES OF THE GHANA IMMIGRATION SERVICE

a) To ensure the effective administration and management of migration in the country; and
b) Contribute to national security.

FUNCTIONS OF THE SERVICE

  1. The Service shall;
    a) Subject to existing laws, examine travel document of persons entering or leaving the country through the borders;
    b) Ensure the application and enforcement of laws relating to the immigration and employment of non-Ghanaians in the country;
    c) Advise on and implement international co–operation agreements with other countries and international organisations on matters relating to migration;
    d) Manage and patrol the borders of the country;
    e) Through the Comptroller – General or the dully authorized representative of the Comptroller – General issue visas for entry into the country and permits for residence or work in the country; and
    f) perform any other functions as required by law
  2. The Comptroller – General shall act in consultation with the Minister in the performance of the function specified in (1)(e).
