The year 1996 marked a significant milestone in the history of Ghana’s healthcare system, as Parliament passed the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act 1996, Act 525. This legislation was instrumental in laying the groundwork for the establishment of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), an organization that has since played a vital role in the provision of healthcare services to the Ghanaian populace.
Established by the 1992 constitution, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is a public service organization created under Act 525 of 1996.
