ASCO is seeking to employ a new Finance Manager.

Role Overview For The Position Of Finance Manager At ASCO

  • To ensure availability, adequacy and integrity of financial records, statements, and reports on the company operations by facilitating accurate capture of the financial transactions, implementing effective system of controls, promoting financial stability and full compliance with regulatory provisions in the analysis, documentation, and presentation of financial information to support informed decisions on business growth, expansion, and diversification.
  • The role distributes the financial resources of the company, is responsible for the budget planning, and supports the Management Team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best business decisions for the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the conduct of in -depth financial analyses to assist management in evaluating the profitability of investment decisions, income streams as well as the potential for cost efficiencies.
  • Manage financial planning and forecasting processes that support the formulation of robust business strategies and operational plans
  • Initiate and drive the establishment, documentation, and implementation of accounting principles, policies, methods, and procedures for the company’s business operations, in accordance with national and international standards
  • Monitor the management of the Chart of accounts by making sure creations, renaming and modifications are all in line with the company’s accounting and financial policy provisions
  • Provide accounting and financial control guidance for the company
  • Promote ful knowfedge of IFS reporting standards and practices to institutionalize and ensure compliance
  • Liaise with the heads of Business Units to agree their Capex/Opex budgets for integration into the annual budget of the company for approval
  • Manage the budgeting process and monitors the implementation of the budget
  • Coordinate the conduct of financial audit for the company
  • Ensure complance with all regulatory policies and authorities
  • Any other duty commensurate with the role as directed by the line Manager
  • Cash flow management
  • Oversee financial depariment employees, including financial Officers and assistants and carried out yearly appraisal and recommended appropriate training
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures approved by management are understood, followed and successfully implemented.
  • Prepare Daily, Monthly, Quarterly and yearly Financial reports to management and make commentaries on Variances
  • Provide explanations on financial report to non-executive members of the board prior to full board meetings
  • Supervise month end closure activities such as General Ledger reconciations, receivables & payables, bank reconciliations
  • Review postings in Accounting software to ensure correct postings of transactons and integrity of data
  • Supervise and review the foxed asset register and ensured its properly reconciled to the fixed asset schedule
  • Liaise with internal auditors for quarterly audit and external auditors for the audit of year end financial statement. Follow up on submission of financial statement to GRA and ensure corporate tax is paid on time. Ensure quarterly assessment is filed at GRA.
  • Supervise monthly payroll and ensure related statutory payments like PAYE, SSNIT are paid on time.
  • Manage Bank facilities and Loans by ensuring all due loans are retired without Accrued Interest and Penalties
  • Monitor monthly actual Expenses and Income based on budget and make commentaries on variances
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures approved by management are understood, followed and successfully implemented.

    Salid praficiency in Microsoft office suite and accounting or financial planning software
    Ability to manage Stakeholders such as debtors, creditors and vendors
    Preferred Qualification & Experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
    Relevant professional qualification in finance (ACCA/ICA/CA, etc)
    A minimum of 3 – 5 years post qualification relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing a finance unit of a logistics, shipping or any other relevant service industry
  • Organisation
  • Flexibility to wark on weekends to ensure completion of Tasks and reports in the department and also support the operations.
    Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks Accounting Software is a plus.
