ELECTRONIC AND HAZARDOUS WASTE MANAGEMENT EXPERT
Job Summary
A reputable company is actively seeking a highly motivated E-Waste and Hazardous waste management expert for immediate employment to support the company to provide expertise on the management of electronic and hazardous waste in line with Ghana environment management activities and international best practices.
The position will also lead in the E-Waste and Hazardous waste management activities, design of disassembling plant, assist in operations, audit existing facilities, and provide recommendation for improvement.
The E-waste Expert shall also be in contact with relevant stakeholders on any WEEE treatment project-related activities.
This position will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Should be able to gather data, analyze it, and make a recommendation for actions, such as collection, storage, dismantling, treatment and disposal of WEEE.
- The E-expert shall be expected to apply data collected and analysed, along with their engineering and environmental science background, to create the required solution for change.
- Depending on the issue at hand, E-waste expert might be tasked with designing appropriate WEEE systems, such as the creation of buy-back centres, dismantling centres, treatment facilities, safe disposal protocols, a new environmental pollution monitoring system, or a new infrastructure to minimize human impact on a space.
- Design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure in relation to environmental, health and safety management;
- Inspecting and monitoring operation sites to determine how they comply with environmental regulations.
- Utilize environmental engineering modeling to assess and forecast environmental issues of the past, present, or future.
- Provide guidance for successful implementation of project environmental assessment instruments/documents,
- Preparation of environmental documents, such as environmental impact/risk assessments, environmental management plans, environmental management frameworks, feasibility studies etc.
- Environmental management and pollution control, including wastewater treatment, hazardous and solid waste, air pollution, environmental monitoring systems, public health impacts, environmental remediation, soil and groundwater investigation and remediation, emergency and contingency planning and response, environmental management systems, and health and safety management systems.
- Provide support to project teams with regard to strategies and approaches to effectively prepare proposals;
- Establish design standards for projects, coordinated with associated medical waste project designs to provide an integrated design approach and consistent quality of tender documents.
- Development of appropriate proposals on the Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment collection, storage, dismantling and treatment technologies;
- Consultations on project issues;
- Development of progress report.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in environment/electrical/electronic and/or chemical engineering.
- Minimum work experience in relevant industry not less than 7 years;
- Work experience in implementing projects on WEEE treatment and management in international organizations is an advantage;
- Work experience in implementing and monitoring projects on WEEE management is required.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong and professional communication skills, both spoken and written
- Ability to work and to support international project partners
- Ability to pass all necessary screening requirements, including successful background check.
- Registered member of a Professional Institute or equivalent experience.
