Burna Boy, a global sensation, has openly expressed his desire to pay Nigerian entertainment blogs in exchange for them to stop reporting on his activities.
He took to Twitter on November 3 to make this announcement. He urged these platforms to collectively decide on an amount he can pay to secure their silence.
In his tweet, the Grammy award-winning artist mentioned well-known blogs like Instablog and PulseNg. He also urged them to discuss amongst themselves and set an amount that would make them cease reporting on him.
He acknowledged that he had not compensated them before and intended to rectify that.
Burna Boy’s request implies that he is bothered by the negative stories that often circulate about him in the media.
Notably, Burna Boy was recently featured in the news for turning down a $5 million performance offer in Dubai. He declined the lucrative deal due to the strict anti-cannabis regulations in the country.
In a viral video where he was freestyling with his band Outsiders, Burna Boy made some statements. “I just turned down Dubai money, $5 million is a small amount for me because I don’t like going to places where they won’t allow me to smoke.”
Burna Boy’s openness about wanting to pay off media outlets to stop reporting on his affairs highlights the challenges artists face regarding his public image and the stories that circulate in the media.
