Ghanaian Rapper Samuel Frimpong, better known as Medikal in the Ghanaian music industry, has had his Twitter account suspended.
The “sika mpe dede” singer was suspended moments ago for pretending to be the Ghana’s president, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
How it Happened
Recently, AMG Medikal used an image of the President of Ghana as his Twitter profile picture and also changed his Twitter username to “Mr. President”.
Fans who read meaning into this commented that the rapper might have made that change purposefully because of his recent song made using the words of the president “Sika Mpe Dede”.
Fast forward, the rapper Medikal’s Twitter account got suspended when a Sarknative (a supporter of the musician Sarkodie) reported Medikal’s account.
Recall that Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, had previously stated and issued a warning to users of the Social Media platform that imitate people without adding Parody that they risk suspension.
“Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended”.
“Previously, we issued a warning before the suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up to Twitter Blue”.
“Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark” Elon Musk Tweeted few days ago.
