How to apply for National Teaching Council NTC Licensure Examination Remarking.

Following the release from TTAG on the mass failure of the just ended March Licensure Examination, the leadership, on Thursday 5th August, 2021, engaged the Registrar of National Teaching Council, Dr. Christian Addai Poku in Accra to ascertain the cause of the mass failure, demand statistics and procedure for remarking, and also appealed for another exams to be conducted as soon as possible for the victims to be recruited by GES .

On the cause of the mass failure, the Registrar informed the leadership that majority of those who sat for the exams were resit students and that, preparation towards the exams was inadequate. He further stated that there wasnt any leakage of any of the papers, and invigilation was tight since the victims were not allowed to sit for the papers in their various institutions. He then emphatically stated that the results were the true reflection of the performance of the students.

The leadership further requested for the statistics of the exams to clear the mindset of its constituents of a deliberate attempt by NTC to shortlist the number of trained teachers who will be eligible for recruitment by GES.

In response to the request, the leadership were told that the statistics over the years have been twisted by the media which sends negative signal about teachers. He elaborated further that the media only publish the failures and relegate the good news of the results to bring disrepute to our fraternity, therefore there would be no statistics of the exams this year.

He further stated that whoever feels they have been cheated can challenge their results by applying for remarking. He is ready to do open remarking where the answer booklet of the applicant will be juxtaposed to the marking scheme in the applicant’s presence, he added.

Procedure for remarking;

1. Involved candidate must write an official letter to the Registrar to request for remarking

2. The specific Subjects areas must be indicated.

3. Vital information such as NTC Index Number, copy of the results and other relevant documents should be attached

(National Teaching Council (NTC) Registration) IS THER A COST INVOLVED?

Yes. The cost of requesting remarking was said to be six hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 600) and should be paid into the National Teaching Council (NTC) account as fee for remarking

It was appealed to the Registrar for the victims to be given the opportunity to redeem themselves before the portal of GES will be opened for recruitment. The Registrar assured the delegation that they are working to open the portal in the middle of this Month(August) for the victims to redeem themselves.

The leadership of TTAG assures all newly trained teachers who are victims to keep them updated on any news that may erupt on the matter. On this note, we urge you to prepare well as we continue to engage NTC for the portal to be opened.
