The Management of the Ghana Education Service is reminding the public that the GES Academic Calendar for Basic Schools 2022 announced in March remains unchanged.
With this, the Public is reminded that second-term vacation is August 11th.

Details of the GES Academic Calendar for Basic Schools 2022
The GES Academic calendar for all Basic Schools was reverted to the Trimester system earlier this year, which has three terms.
This was after stakeholders had already expressed their discontent with the Semester-based academic calendar, which was implemented earlier.
First Term GES Academic Calendar Schedule
The academic calendar for the first term is as follows:
- School Academic Session begins from 18th January to 7th April, 2022 (a period of 12 Weeks)
- Vacation is from 7th April to 9th May, 2022
Second Term GES Academic Calendar Schedule
The academic calendar for the third term is as follows:
- Academic session begins from 10th May to 11th August 2022 (a period of 14 Weeks)
- Vacation begins from 11th August to 12th September, 2022
Third Term GES Academic Calendar Schedule
The academic calendar for the third term is as follows:
- Academic session begins from 13th September to 15th December, 2022 (14 Weeks)
- Vacation begins from 15th December, 2022
Vacation Dates
- The First Term Vacation Date For Basic Schools in Ghana is from 7th April to 9th May, 2022
- The Second Term Vacation Date For Basic Schools in Ghana is from 11th August to 12th September, 2022
- The Third Term Vacation Date For Basic Schools in Ghana is from 15th December, 2022
Contact Hours
Contact hours for base schools are as follows:
- 7:00am to 2:00pm
- 7:30am to 2:30pm
- 8:00am to 3:00pm
These suggested contact hours are dependent on the peculiar circumstances of the community.
