“Students will be promoted when schools resume in 2021” – GES

As stated by the Deputy Director-General of Ghana Education Service (GES), Prospective students in various academic levels will be promoted to the next stage when school reopen fully next academic year which is starting in January 2021

In reaction to the Outbreak of the global pandemic which Ghana was affected, President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation and further on Sunday March 15, directed for the closure of all schools nationwide as part of measures curb the pandemic which was seen to be fast spreading within the Ghanaian Vicinity.

His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo speaking in one of his nation’s address announced that second-year students in Junior and Senior High School JHS & SHS to return to school from October 5, 2020 to December 14, 2020.

The President then stated that from January 2021, all School levels will reopen I.e. Kindergarten, Primary, first-year Junior and Senior High School.

Mr Kwabena Tandoh in a brief interview with Daniel Dadzie on JoyNews sighted by EverydaynewsGH revealed that all students will be promoted to their respective levels when schools finally reopen in January 2021.

In other not to go against UNICEF’s policy on Right Age Enrollment where students are enrolled with their right ages, the Deputy Director-General for Quality and Access stated and explained that the promotion is therefore a necessity.
