Chelsea SACK Thomas Tuchel after Champions League Defeat

Thomas Tuchel has been SACKED by the management of Chelsea FC after yesterday’s Champions League Defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Thomas Tuchel was fired by Chelsea’s new owner just three months after the takeover was officially completed.

Despite the dreadful Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb in Tuchel’s 100th game in charge, many fans and opponents are stunned by the decision.

Tuchel was informed on Wednesday morning, and it is expected that Anthony Barry would take temporary charge until a replacement is recruited, with Graham Potter the early frontrunner.

While the loss in Zagreb may have highlighted Chelsea’s recent decline under Tuchel, reports say that his dismissal is not solely due to results or Chelsea’s dismal start to the season.

Concerns had been developing that Tuchel was not the appropriate man to lead the new era under co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital before Tuesday night’s loss, so many felt the German’s job was in doubt regardless of the result in Zagreb.

Once Tuchel is gone, Boehly and Behdad Eghbali will waste no time in replacing him and will begin communicating with their targets. Chelsea hopes to hire the right man quickly, so they will likely contact Brighton to meet with Potter.

Chelsea may also try to negotiate with Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane, both of whom are now unemployed but who may be interested in returning to management. It’s possible that Roger Schmidt, manager of Benfica, will also be considered.

On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club. As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach.

There will be no further comment until a new head coach appointment is made.
