University of Pretoria Commonwealth Scholarship 2025

University of Pretoria is announcing a new scholarship opportunity for students looking to pursue a doctoral degree. This is a excellent awards aimed at supporting students from commonwealth nations.

Faculty of Humanities
Faculty of Education
Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and IT
Faculty of Health Science
Faculty of Veterinary Science
Faculty of Economic and Management Science
Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences
Faculty of Theology and Religion

Eligibility:

Applicants from all commonwealth countries are eligible to apply except South Africa.
You must be under 40 years
Candidates must have submitted an application to the University Of Pretoria and are willing to begin studies in 2025
You should have completed your master’s degree not more that two (2) years
It is important to have identified a potential supervisor at the institution
To be eligible to apply for these University of Pretoria scholarships, candidates must have sent their academic records to the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
If you are currently enrolled on a master’s or PHD at the university of Pretoria, you cannot apply for this opportunity
You are not eligible if you have previously undertaken a PHD & Master’s at the aforementioned university

Scholarship Perks:

This is a fully funded program
Students will receive an annual stipend of R184,000
Extra funds will be allocated for scholars’ accommodation, medical aid, living expenses and book & stationery
Assistance will be provided for students’ travel to and from South Africa
Shuttle services will be provided to scholarship recipients from OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa to Pretoria and back.
After proof of payment is received, application fees, visa fees, and medical aid expenses can all be reimbursed.
In South Africa, the scholarship permits winners to hold other external bursaries, grants, or scholarships as long as the total annual value stays under R300,000.
