Each year, University of Manitoba offers fellowship slots to graduates students in recognition of and support of academic excellence. This fellowship presents a clear opportunity for intellectuals to accomplish their academic goals.
Eligibility Criteria For The Fellowship At University Of Manitoba
- Students from any country can apply for this opportunity
- All graduate programs are eligible, provided those programs qualify for Tri-Agency funding
- You must have gained admission to the university of Manitoba as a full time Master’s or PhD student
- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 and not receive a grade lower than C+ (including AX courses).
- Demonstrate great potential as a researcher and a graduate student
- Must be a beneficiary of any other award or scholarship
- Not change program while receiving UMGF award
- Not have an active, admission‐related hold on their student account during their provisional admission period.
NB: Pre-master’s and Occasional students are not eligible.
Value & Duration Of This Financial Aid
Master’s
- 20,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, for up to a total of $40,000.
Doctoral
- $25,000 per year for 12, 24, 36 or 48 months, for up to a total of $100,000.

Application Process
- To apply, you must consult your Department/Unit to get access to their process of application and deadline
- Once the department or unit make their selection, those people would be recommended to the Faculty of Graduate Studies(FGS)
- The FGS would review the recommendations and notify recipients with an official letter though email
