The Mastercard Foundation in partnership with University of California, also known as UC Berkeley presents an enticing scholarship scheme for bright Africans. This opportunity was created to support learners who are struggling to pursue master’s education due to certain barriers.
The Criteria
- Applicant must be a citizen of an African country
- Have strong academic record and a potential to lead
- Committed to giving back to their community or home country for better development
- Must be willing to return back to their country after completing their studies
- Higher education must be unavailable to the prospect because of social, financial, personal, practical, or health-related obstacles.
- Priority will be given to students who fall under these categories,
- Did undergraduate degree at an African university
- Do not already hold a postgraduate certificate (master’s /PhD)
- Have never been a beneficiary of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program
- Master’s degree applicants must first apply to an eligible master’s degree program before they can be nominated for the Mastercard Foundations Scholars Program
- Please keep in mind that bachelor’s and PhD degrees do not qualify for this award

- After successfully getting admitted, outstanding students will be nominated by their graduate programs for the Mastercard scholar program
