Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa for the 2023/2024 academic year is now open. Students who have the desire to study at Oxford University in UK are free to apply. The opportunity is available each year for West African citizens. This year, Rhodes Trust is offering full sponsorship to two students. They are looking for students who possess outstanding intellectual character, great leadership skills and are commitment to service.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The following countries are eligible: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, the island of Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, São Tomé and Principe and Togo.
- Candidates must have spent at least five of the previous 10 years living in one or more of the nations mentioned above.
- Candidates must have completed their undergraduate education with outstanding academic records (ie. First class or equivalent
- You should be 18 – 24 years older by 1st October 2023
- For medical, dental, pharmaceutical, law and engineering students, in order for you to complete your professional internship, you should be 18 – 25 years old on 1st October 2023
- For older candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual, you must be under the age of 27 on 1st October 2023 (i.e. have been born after 1 October 1996) And you must also have completed your first undergraduate degree on or after 1 October 2022
- You should be able to prove your proficiency in English

Benefits:
The scholarship will cover the following:
- Tuition fees
- Annual stipends (£18,180 per annum = £1,515 per month). It is from this stipend that scholars will pay for their accommodation and living expenses
- School application fee (ie. After being selected for the award)
- Fee for a student visa
- Economy Class flight fee
- International Health Surcharge (IHS)
