Rotimi is a Nigerian-American actor, model, and singer who goes by the name Olurotimi Akinosho. He is well recognized for his portrayal of Darius Morrison on Starz’s Boss. DRE is another moniker for him. He is now seen on Power as Andre Coleman.
His father is a banker who specialises in investments and is of Yoruba descent, while his mother is of Igbo descent. He went to Columbia High School in his early years, when he was a member of both the varsity basketball team and the honours choir. Rotimi appeared in multiple episodes of Battle Creek as Danny. He was also a modern R&B performer who released two digital mixtapes in 2011 and 2012, named The Resume and While You Wait, respectively.
His music has been featured on MTV, MTV Base, and VH one Soul, as well as other U.S. and foreign entertainment channels. He’s opened for Jennifer Hudson, T.I., Estelle, and NERD on stage. He’s even appeared in R&B artist Keyshia Cole’s music video “Trust and Believe” as Cole’s cheating boyfriend and performed on BET’s show 106 and Park.
On the first episode of Boss, he received musical placement with “I’m the One.” In 2015, 50 cent, an American rapper and executive producer of Power, signed him to his label. The next year, he recorded his first G-Unit single, LOTTO, which featured 50 cent.
DOIN IT, a song from his 5-track Summer Bangerz project, was ultimately published. In 2017, he released his first album, Jeep Music VOL.1, which was his debut. Since April 2012, he has been the lead model and ambassador for rapper T.I.’s AKOO Clothing Spring and Summer campaign.
