Provisional results for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, taken by 43,742 students in 2022, have been announced by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).
According to WAEC, there were 20,164 males and 23,578 females who registered. Sixty-six of the applicants were visually impaired, while two had hearing loss.
Also, 901 people’s scores were withheld because they were suspected of cheating on the exam.
Members of the public were warned by the Council to be on the lookout for scammers who may approach students via mobile messaging apps and offer to improve their grades in exchange for a fee paid via mobile money transfers. Candidates can check their results via this guide.
The West African Examination Council, WAEC earlier released the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results for school and private candidates.
A total of 552,288 candidates made up of 276,999 males and 275,289 females entered for the school examination. This includes 65 candidates with visual impairment, 427 with hearing impairment and 54 candidates with other test accommodation needs. Out of the total number of candidates who entered for the examination, 4,309 candidates were absent.
The BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of 1,144 candidates. This was made up of 641 males and 503 females. Out of the total number of candidates who entered for the examination, 84 candidates were absent. Candidates can check their BECE results via this process.
