TheNewForce movement has issued a press release following the apprehension of their spokeswoman.
The spokeswoman of TheNewForce, Ms. Shalimar Abbiusi gained public attention after a short footage uploaded on X revealed her introducing the movement to Ghanaians.
Ms. Abbiusi was apprehended by the Ghana Immigration Service for alleged forgery of her residence permit documents.
The Ghana Immigration Service questioned her immigration status and claimed to have discovered the falsified papers.
In the press statement, TheNewForce clarified that Ms. Shalimar Abbiusi is the spokesperson for the movement’s diaspora and diplomatic engagements.
They also revealed that she was invited for a discussion on Monday, 4th December and hasn’t been released since.
According to TheNewForce, the National Investigations Bureau has effected an unlawful detention. The Bureau keeps questioning Shalimar about the movement since her detention. This is an attempt to find out those involved in the political team, they stated.
The statement additionally revealed that Ms. Shalimar has been denied access to legal representation.
Furthermore, it was mentioned in the press release that there are several attacks on TheNewForce including the taking down of a number of their billboards.
The group encouraged Ghanaians to be vigilant and partake in fighting to protect Ghana’s democracy.
