UG To Withdraw Continuing Students With CGPA Below 1.00

University of Ghana, Legon (UG)

The University of Ghana, UG is set to withdraw continuing students with CGPA below 1.00. The University plans to implement this policy in the 2023/2024 academic year. Students with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) below 1.00 would be sent out of the school. This applies to students in all Colleges of the University.

This decision aligns with Section 9.26 of the University Regulations for Junior Members (2017). This mandates the withdrawal of undergraduate students falling below the minimum CGPA required for advancing in their studies.

The Academic Affairs Directorate of the University of Ghana has notified current level 200 and level 300 students who have received their 2022/2023 examination results and fall short of the approved minimum CGPA for their college that they will receive withdrawal notices via their Official UG email addresses soon.

Furthermore, students who have already paid their tuition fees for the 2023/2024 academic year will have the option to request a refund.

UG acknowledges the significance of this decision. The institution will offer support to students with questions or concerns through the relevant College Academic Affairs Office. A separate notice concerning the College of Health Sciences will be issued in the future.

This announcement has left many students, particularly those facing academic challenges, taken aback by the development.
