Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, has replied angrily to Yvonne Nelson’s defamatory claims about him in her new book “I Am Not Yvonne Nelson.”
On Sunday, June 19, 2023, at the opening of her memoir at Peduase Lodge, the actress, producer, and novelist Yvonne Nelson revealed that she had an abortion for Sarkodie in 2010.
She claims she decided to abort because Sarkodie refused to accept the responsibility of being a parent and that also influenced her to abort the baby.
After an unsuccessful effort using pills prescribed by a friend, Yvonne Nelson recounts on pages 88–95 of Chapter Eight of her new book that Sarkodie and his manager at the time accompanied her to a clinic at Mamprobi to have the foetus removed.
But after a week of waiting, award-winning rapper Sarkodie—known for responding to his critics by spitting fire and venom into the microphone—has finally spoken out about the scandalous narrative written by Yvonne Nelson.
In a new song titled “Try me” meant to address the issue, the Sarkodie vehemently describes how Yvonne Nelson gave off the impression of being a nice girl but was secretly having sexual relations with other men, leading to a pregnancy he does not believe to be his.
He continues by saying that he wasn’t unprepared to be a parent, but that he nevertheless encouraged Yvonne to keep the pregnancy anyhow. While Yvonne considered it, she ultimately decided against it so she could focus on her studies at the time.
He claims that he then advised that she sees his doctor, but she declined, explaining that a friend had already recommended a great doctor to her and that no one had ever pressured her into having an abortion.
According to Sarkodie in the reply, he has his doubts that Yvonne Nelson actually became pregnant, and he still doesn’t think she had an abortion.
