Nine UEW Students reported dead in Fatal Accident at Asuboi on Sunday

At Dawn on Sunday, nine UEW students have been reported dead in a fatal accident at Asuboi, Eastern Region.

According to reports, the numerous University of Education (UEW) students were injured in a fatal accident on the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Sunday morning where some appears to be unfortunately dead. The sad event happened when they were on board in a Hyundai commercial bus from Sunyani to Accra when it collided with a stationary articulated truck.

The Hyundai universe commercial bus with the registration number AK 324-22 collided with a 40-footer container laden with wood in the accident, according to reports. 

The bus was transporting students from Sunyani to Accra, but when it reached a section of the Asuboi highway, the driver failed to notice traffic ahead and was discovered sleeping.

He collided with a 40-footer container loaded with woods that had fallen partially on the road from a prior collision.

Reports say that eight people died on the spot, with one more dying later at the Suhum Government Hospital, where the injured were transported.

The Eastern Regional Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the police are attempting to clear the accident vehicles from the road.
