Branches And Qualifications For The Ghana Navy Regular Officer Course

A. Executive Branch

First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:

1. BSc Nautical Science
2. BSc Mathematics
3. BSc Physics
4. BSc Chemistry
5. BSc Statistics
6. BSc Computer Engineering
7. BSc Aerospace Engineering
8. BSc Computer Science
9. BSc Oceanography
10. BSc Geomatic Engineering
11. BSc Geodetic Engineering
12. BSc Degree in any science related discipline (Candidate should have done General Science at Senior High School).

B. Technical Branch

Applicants must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:

1. BSc Marine Engineering
2. BSc/BTech Mechanical Engineering
3. BSc Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering
4. BSc/BTech Electrical and Electronic Engineering
5. BSc/BTech Naval Architecture.

C. Supply Branch

First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:

1. BSc Business Administration (Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Finance)
2. BSc/BTech Logistics and Supply Chain Management
3. BSc/BA/BTech Procurement and Supply Chain Managemen
4. BSc Port and Shipping Administration
5. BSc Logistics and Transport Management
6. BSc/BA/BTech Logistics
7. BSc/BA Economics
8. BSc/BCom/BTech Commerce
9. BSc/BCom/BTech Accounting
10. BSc/BBA Finance
11. BSc/BA/BTech Purchasing and Supply
12. BSc/BA/BTech Hospitality Managemen
13. BSc/BA/BTech Fashion, Textile & Designing
14. Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in the following
    1. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Level 5
    2. Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) – Final Part.

D. Administration Branch

Candidates must have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:

1. BSc/BBA Business Administration (Human Resource Option).
2. BSc/BCom/BTech Commerce (Human Resource Option).
3. BSc/BA/BBA Business Management (Human Resource Option)
4. BSc/BA Public Administration
5. BSc/BBA Management Studies (Human Resource Option)
6. BA Information Studies
7. BBA/BA Secretaryship and Management Studies.

E. Education Corps

Prospects should have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognised University in the following:

1. BA/BEd in French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or German for interpretation/translation
2. Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in any discipline
3. BA in Library and Archival studies.
4. BA in Education.

F. Records

You must have a bachelor’s Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognized institution in the following:

1. BSc Information Technology (System Administration)
2. BSc Statistics
3. BA Information Studies

G. Agricultural Extension Officers

You should hold an undergraduate degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/Institution in the following:

1. BSc Agriculture
2.  BSc Agricultural Extension
3. BSc Agricultural Education
4. BSc Agricultural Economics/ Agronomy
5. Bachelor of Horticulture
6. Bachelor of Animal Science
7. Bachelor of Soil Science
8. Bachelor of Crop Science

H. Band

Applicants must have the following:

1. BA/BEd in Music
2. Appreciable knowledge in composition/orchestration/ conducting
3. Ability to play at least one musical instrument
4. Ability to translate and transcribe music.

I. Public Relations

Have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognised University/Institution in any of the following:

1. Communication Studies
2. Public Relations
3. Journalism
4. Fine Arts
5. Multimedia Production
6. Communication Design
7. Production Designs
8. Motion Picture Photography
9. Editing
10. Languages
11. French
12. Spanish.

J. Pay Corps

Candidate must have a first degree not below Second Class Lower from an accredited University/ Institution in the following:

1. BSc Administration (Banking and Finance/ Accounting Options)
2. BSc Accounting
3. BSc Finance
4. BCom (Bachelor of Commerce)
5. BSc Accounting with Computing/ICT
6. A fully qualified member of ACCA, ICA OR CIMA.
7. Applicants with qualifications in ICT in addition to any of the above will have an added advantage.

K. Catering Officers

You have a First Degree not below Second Class Lower from a recognised University/Institution in any of the following:

1. Bachelor of Education (Home Economics)
2. Bachelor of Hospitality Management.
3. Bachelor of Technology in Hospitality Management
4. Bachelor of Catering and Hospitality in Education.
