Category D – Medical Branches & Their Qualifications
a. Medical Candidates (Army/Navy/Air Force)
In addition to General Eligibility applicants must have any of the following professional qualifications from a recognized institution.
1. General Nurses: State Registered Nurse (SRN) and diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
2. Midwives: State Certified Midwife and diploma or BSc
in Midwifery.
3. Medical Laboratory Technicians: Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
4. Radiographers: Diploma in Radiography.
5. Physiotherapists: Diploma in Physiotherapy.
6. Health Information Officers (Health Records Management):
Diploma in Health Information/Health Records Management.
7. Health Assistants (Clinical): Diploma in Clinical Health
Care.
8. Technical Officers (Dental Surgery Assistants): Diploma
in Dental Surgery Assistantship.
9. Technical Officers (Dental Technology): Diploma in
Dental Technology.
10. Technical Officers (Dental Therapy): Diploma in Dental
Therapy.
11. Technical Officers (Disease Control): Diploma in
Disease Control.
12. Technical Officers (Environmental Health): Diploma in
Environmental Health.
13. Technical Officers (Health Promotion): Diploma in Health
Promotion.
14. Technical Officers (Nutrition): Diploma in Nutrition.
15. Technical Officers (Occupational Therapy). Diploma in Occupational Therapy.

18. Technical Officers (Physician Assistant): Diploma in
Physician Assistantship.
19. Technical Officers (Physiotherapy): Diploma in

20. Technical Officers (Radiology): Diploma in Radiology/
Imaging Technology.
21. Technical Officers (Dental Hygiene): Diploma in Dental
Hygiene.
22. Technical Officers (Medical Imaging Technology): Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology.
23. Technical Officers (Medical Records): Diploma in Health
Information Management.
24. Technical Officers (Pharmacy Technology): Diploma in
Pharmacy Technology.
25. Technical Officers (Public Health): Diploma in Public Health.
26. Technical Officers (Health Promotion/Information): Diploma
in Health Promotion/Information.
27. Technical Officers (Biostatistics): Diploma in Health
Statistics plus one year mandatory national service.
28. Technical Officers (Veterinary): Diploma in Field Animal Health/Veterinary Laboratory Techniques plus one (1) year mandatory national service.
29. Biomedical Engineering Technologists: Diploma in Medical Equipment Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service.
30. Technical Officers (Environmental Health): Diploma (Environmental Health) plus one (1) year mandatory national service. with the Allied Health Professions Council.
31. Human Resource/Administrative Assistants: Diploma in Human Resource Management/ Administration/ Management Studies.
32. Caterers: HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management and must have completed the mandatory national service.
33. Technical Officers (Supply): HND in Purchasing and Supply and must have completed the mandatory national service.
34. Psychiatry/Mental Nurses: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diploma in Mental Nursing (Registered Mental Nursing) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
35. Public Health Nurses: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diploma in Public Health Nursing (Registered Public Health Nursing) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
36. Technical Officers (Optical): In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diploma in Optical Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
37. Medical Records Officers: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diploma in Health Records Management/Archival Studies from an accredited institution of higher learning.
38. Health Education Officer: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diploma in Health Education from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
39. Nurse Assistants Clinical: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Nursing (Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
40. Nurse Assistants Preventive: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Nursing (Registered Nurse Assistant Preventive) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be in good standing with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
41. Medical Laboratory Assistants: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
42. Registered Dental Surgery Assistants: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Registered Dental Surgery Assistants from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
43. Physiotherapist Assistants: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
44. Environmental Health Assistants: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Environmental Health and Sanitation from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
45. Field Technicians (Disease Control & Surveillance): In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Field Technician (Community Health) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
46. Occupational Therapist Assistant: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution of higher learning. Must be registered and in good standing with the Allied Health Professions Council.
47. Ambulance Drivers: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must be a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic with a driver’s licence “C”.
48. Medical Record Assistants: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Certificate in Health Records Management from an accredited institution of higher learning.
49. Emergency Medical Technicians: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must be a Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Basic level.
50. Biomedical Engineering Technicians: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Technician Certificate in Medical Equipment from an accredited institution of higher learning and must have completed the mandatory national service.
51. Diet Cook: In addition to the general eligibility, the applicant must have a Diet Cook Certificate from an accredited institution. At least one (1) year working experience in a recognized facility is required.
