The Ghana-West Africa Program to Combat AIDS and STI (WAPCAS) is a local Civil Society Organization (CSO) that has been operating in Ghana since 1996. WAPCAS has been implementing HIV and STI prevention programs targeting vulnerable populations with funding support from different donor partners including the Global Fund
Currently, WAPCAS is one of the Principal Recipients for the HIV/TB components under the Global Fund New Funding Mode: III project (TGF NFM III) which started in January 2021 and expected to end in December 2023. NFM III project activities under the WAPCAS grant are being implemented in 10 regions of Ghana (53) districts in all).
As the world battle with the current COVID-19 pandemic which has had a devastating effect on health services and health outcome gains made over the years especially in the case of HIV, TB and malaria, The Global Fund has made funds available to countries including Ghana to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on these 3 diseases (HIV, TB, malaria) and health care in general.
Ghana’s COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) seeks to strengthen health and community systems, improve risk communication activities directed at containment of the spread of COVID-19 and continue the provision of health services.
