PROJECT BRIEF
As an add-on to its capacity building and export promotion activities, and to secure the slowly emerging sector in times of COVID-19 pandemic, GIZ Ghana has been commissioned to develop and offer free-of-charge advisory services on operational pandemic management to Ghanaian apparel manufacturers.
SCOPE OF THE ROLE
The technical advisor supports the development and implementation of the advisory services on operational pandemic management for Ghanaian apparel factories in close coordination with GIZ’s Compliance/ Labour standards expert.
YOUR TASK:
Development and implementation of flexible and demand-driven advisory services of operational pandemic management for Ghanaian apparel manufacturers; covering the following key areas of intervention:
- Measures to prevent the spread of the virus ( pandemic preparedness)
- Measures to prepare for crisis situation. ( Virus outbreak)
- Improving cooperation with local authorities
- Acute support in the even of crisis (Virus outbreaks)
Develop guidelines and training materials for the above-mentioned areas of intervention
Responsible for the design, preparation and implementation of workshop, seminars and other events.
Coordinating all activities with GIZ’s other projects in the areas of textile and apparel
Set up solid management and reporting mechanisms and report to internal (eg. GIZ Germany, Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ) and external stakeholders ( Ministry of Trade and Industry, Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers, AGAM)
Support Development and acquisition of new projects in the area of occupational health and safety and or Textiles/ Apparel.
YOUR PROFILE
- Masters/ MSc in Public Health or Occupational health and safety and or Compliance or another relevant field
- At Least 3 years professional experience in Public Health or Occupational Health and Safety or Compliance
- Good knowledge of COVID-19 hygiene protocols, Ghana Labour, Ghana Labour law ISO 45001:2018 and international compliance standards
- Experience in working in or with apparel factories is considered an advantage
- Good workin knowledge of computer applications (eg. MS Office)
- Diligent, goal-oriented, open-minded and innovative team player and ability to perform tasks without supervision
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Strong interpersonal skills, work experience in intercultural environment is an added advantage
- Very strong communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders and facilitate networking
- Willingness to to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed- corresponding measures are agreed with management
