International Community School (ICS) is advertising a new position. They are seeking a passionate and experienced Accounting Teacher with a minimum of three years’ working experience in planning and teaching the IGCSE and A-level Accounting Curriculum to join our dynamic team at the Accra campus.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting instruction to students, developing engaging lesson plans and fostering a supportive learning environment.

The role involves teaching various levels of accounting, from introductory to advanced courses, and may include preparing students for professional qualifications.

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide exceptional accounting education that prepares students for academic and professional success. The Accounting Teacher will inspire students to develop their analytical skills, critical thinking, and ethical understanding of accounting principles. This position aims to contribute to the academic growth of students and to support their journey towards becoming competent accounting professionals.

Key Functions:

  •  Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department meetings, school functions, and professional development sessions.
  • Prepare students for internal and external examinations and assessments.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments

Personal Specifications:

  • Must have a minimum of Bachelor of Education, Accounting or Finance option. Master’s degree qualification in Accounting, Finance preferred.
  • Successful teaching experience with IGCSE and A-level students.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Relevant professional accounting qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) are an advantage.
  • Proven experience in teaching the Cambridge Accounting curriculum at the secondary or post- secondary level
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and lesson planning.
  • Experience with educational technology and online teaching platforms is a plus. Skills and

  • Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
