Tullow Oil is offering an exciting job opportunity within the Ghana Offshore Business unit. The organization is looking for a dynamic Marine Engineer to join the team on a Permanent basis. The role is located at the company’s office in Accra, with time offshore.
Key Roles:
Operational & Technical Support
- Serve as the primary onshore marine SME supporting offshore teams in daily operations and planned campaigns.
- Provide engineering guidance during inspection and repair campaigns, including offshore supervision when required.
- Ensure marine inspection and maintenance activities are entered, tracked, and closed in the CMMS in alignment with Class and IAP requirements.
- Develop and issue detailed work packs for repair and maintenance execution.
- Lead root cause analyses and technical reviews for marine system failures.
Planning & Continuous Improvement
- Interface with the Offshore Execution Lead and planners to develop and optimize offshore execution campaigns.
- Identify cost-saving and reliability improvement opportunities across marine systems and structures.
- Monitor industry trends and new technologies applicable to FPSO marine integrity management.
Management of Change/ Inspection & Repair
- Lead the development and execution of marine-related MOCs in collaboration with the offshore team and 3rd-party engineering contractors.
- Oversee the readiness, safety, and performance of tank cleaning, inspection, and repair campaigns.
- Review all marine inspection reports, ensuring findings and recommendations are systematically captured in the CMMS and analyzed for trends.
- Maintain direct communication with Classification Society representatives and track close-out of Class recommendations.
HSEQ & Compliance
- Ensure all work is executed in accordance with Tullow’s EHS Management System, regulatory requirements, and Class standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset within the marine discipline.
- Comply with Tullow’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and complete all mandatory training.
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Class 1 Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency or equivalent (advantageous).
- Familiarity with OCIMF, IMO, and SOLAS requirements applicable to FPSOs.
- Certification or formal training in inspection or integrity management (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine engineering, preferably in FPSO or tanker operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Class, Flag, and statutory survey requirements.
- Strong understanding of hull, structure, ballast, cargo, and mooring systems.
- Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo) and inspection management tools.
- Proven capability to manage and technically assess 3rd-party contractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret inspection data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across multicultural teams.
- Offshore experience required; offshore survival certification preferred.
