Ghana Prisons Service Senior Officers Category

Ghana Prisons Service invites job applications from suitably qualified Ghanaians for enlistment into the senior officers category.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

• Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.
• Must have completed his/her National Service.
• Must be computer literate.
• Must be of a minimum age of 21 and not more than 35 years by 31″ December 2021.
• Must be physically and medically fit by the Prisons Service standard.
• Must not be bonded,
• Must have a minimum height of 1.67metres (5ft 6inches) for Males and (5ft 2inches) for females 1.57 metres.
• Must have an active e-mail account and/or mobile phone number.
• Be ready to undergo paramilitary Training and other physical training.
• Medical professionals must have completed one-year post horsemanship with a registered hospital or clinic

CATEGORIES & THEIR REQUIREMENTS

1. GENERAL DUTIES

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of first additional qualifications will be an added advantage.

• Humanities
• Social Sciences

2. AGRICULTURE

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in the following area and a minimum year post qualification working experience.

• Animal Science Crop Science
• Soil Science
• General Agriculture
• Agriculture Biotechnology
• Agriculture Engineering Agriculture Economist

3. EDUCATION

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in any of the following:

• Basic Education
• Early Childhood Education
• Guidance and Counselling

4. LEGAL OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a minimum of LLB/BL, and must have been called to the least one/1 year post qualification working experience.

5. MEDICAL CATEGORY

a. MEDICAL DOCTORS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery Medical Doctor (MD), and must be permanently registered with the Medical and Dental Council and with one/ qualification experience.

b. DENTAL SURGEONS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a registered member of the Medical and Dental Council and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess BSc Pharmacy (B. Pharm), be registered with Pharmacy Council and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

d. PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess B.Sc. Physician Assistant or B.Sc. Medical Assistant

e. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must at least possess B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology, be a registered member of the Allied Health Professions Council and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

f. NURSING OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least BSc Nursing, be registered with the Nursing and Midwives Council of Ghana and with one/1 year post qualification experience.

6. PROCUREMENT/SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least first degree in Procurement/Supply chain management.

7. PUBLIC AFFAIRS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least (a) First degree in any of the following: Communication Studies, Public Relations or Journalism. (b) A first degree in any discipline plus a Diploma in Communication Studies/Public Relations/Journalism.

Previous working experience will be an added advantage.

8. STATISTICIANS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least a first degree in Statistics or Mathematics.

9. TECHNICAL OFFICERS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have at least first degree or equivalent in the following areas:

• BSc Land Economy
• Building Technology

1. BSc. Quantity Surveying and Construction Technology BSc. Construction Technology and Management

• BSC Civil Engineering
• BSc Mechanical Engineering
• BSc Electrical Engineering
• Previous working experience will be an added advantage.

10. RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be:

a. ORDAINED MINISTER OR CHAPLAIN

Have at least a first degree in Theology. Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognized Christian Bodies.

•  Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with an excellent Knowledge in Arabic.
• Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies the Office of the National/ Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.

NOTE:

For the Senior officer’s category apart from Medical Doctors, Dental Surgeon, Pharmacist with (Pharm D) and Legal officers as indicated in serial 5 & 6 that will be placed on the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Prisons (DSP), all other graduates shall start from Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) after completion of training.

• Use your Serial Number (SN) and Pin Code (PIN) to access the application form online at the website address https://www.applyghprisons.com/
• All applicants must have a passport size picture of dimensions 200x200pes of JPEG/JPG/PG with a size not exceeding 1.0MB ready to be uploaded
• Carefully read ALL INSTRUCTIONS before you apply
• The online application form is accessible only by the SN and PIN
• Keep your UNIQUE NUMBER on the summary report for all the stages of the recruitment and selection
  process
• ALL correspondence with applicants will be done through e-mail, text messages and the e-recruitment portal only
• Only Short-listed Applicants will be invited for further stages of the recruitment and the enlistment exercise

RECRUITMENT AND ENLISTMENT PROCESS

• Applicants who meet the initial requirements will be shortlisted and invited to centres during the online application
• Short-listed applicants will be invited for the following:

1. Physical and Body screening
2. Inspection and verification of all necessary documents
3. Aptitude Test

• Artisans, sportsmen/women and bandsmen who are successful in item 2 above will go through a competency-based assessment in Accra
• Applicants who are shortlisted after terms 2 and 3 above will undergo a medical examination at a medical facility selected by the Service
• Results submitted during the application process shall be verified at WAEC and other appropriate examination bodies
• Applicants who present false documents would he arrested and prosecuted
• Applicants who are successful in item 4 abowe will go through a thorough criminalan background check.
• Applicants who are cleared of criminal records will be invited to commence training.

1. Sales of e-voucher commence on 25th August 2021 and end on 15th September 2021.
