Applications are invited for employment to the position of Senior Officer – Community Relations & ASM in the Sustainability Department of AngloGold Ashanti. Entries are expected from ambitious, energetic and performance driven individuals who are eager to bring their skills on board.
Role Purpose
To support the effective implementation of the company’s community relations and Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining (ASM) engagement strategies aimed at fostering mutual trust, respect, and collaboration between the company, host communities, and artisanal and small-scale miners. The role ensures that the company’s operations align with social performance standards, human rights principles, and relevant regulatory requirements, while promoting sustainable livelihoods and peaceful co-existence within the company’s operational areas.
Person Specifications
Qualification
- Tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree) in BSc Public Relations, Social Science, Development Studies, Communications, Marketing, Natural Resources Management, Community Development or any related field from a recognized institution.
Experience
- 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the mining industry
Other Competencies
- Proven experience in external relations, community engagement, public affairs, or a related field, preferably in extractive industry, corporate or non-profit environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
- Good understanding of local culture and practices.
- Experience in crisis communication and reputation management is a plus.
- Must possess valid Ghanain Driving Licence and proficiency to drive light vehicle.
