Chirano Gold Mines is here with an amazing employment option the the role: Geologist. As the position holder you will perform and supervise geological activities and analyze data to determine the location of valuable minerals and natural resources. Conduct fieldwork such as collecting samples, taking measurements, and conducting surveys of mining sites. If you get this position, you will be working at Bibiani in the Western North Region of Ghana.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure relevant Safety, Mining and other statutory codes and regulations remain in full compliance and actively participate in the Company’s Continuous Improvement Programmes.
- Ensure compliance to established methodologies and quality standards related to mine operations while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches.
- Monitor costs related to mine geology and implement approved recommendations for maximizing operational efficiencies.
- Provide timely ore delineation, as accurately as is technically feasible, for mining and planning through accurate grade control.
- Provide geological information to Mine Planning, Geotechnical and Mine operations sections.
- Communicate ore feed changes and characteristics to key stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate and timely data collation for resource work and undertake data validation and maintenance of quality control systems.
- Champion effort to minimize ore loss and dilution through improved understanding of geological controls.
- Create geological maps from field observations and field data collection.
- Perform other duties assigned by your supervisors
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- First degree in Geology/ Geological Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ practical experience in Underground mining environment.
- Experience with geological data collection including logging of drill holes, validation, interpretation and QAQC.
- Ability to use geological software’s such as surpac, leapfrog, datamine.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a wide diversity of geology related projects.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, advocacy and mentoring skills.
- Ability to set priorities on competing issues according to business needs.
- High degree of competence in written and verbal communication skills.
- Motivated, self-starting, willing and independent, with high level of initiative.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environment and community.
- Possess a valid Ghanaian Driver’s License with good and defensive driving skills.
