Job Overview

The Application Security Engineer will work closely with developers, architects, consultants, and security teams to identify, assess, and mitigate application security risks. The successful candidate will help implement secure development practices, perform security testing, strengthen identity and access management controls, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Key duties include:

Implementing and supporting DevSecOps and secure software development practices.
Conducting application security testing, vulnerability assessments, code reviews, and risk analysis.
Managing application and database security controls across cloud and on-premise environments.
Supporting Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives.
Monitoring compliance with security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborating with technology and business teams to strengthen cybersecurity controls.
Supporting database security, encryption, monitoring, and protection initiatives.
Contributing to incident response, security awareness, and continuous improvement programs.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cyber Security, Mathematics, Cryptography, or a related field.
5–7 years of experience in information security and software development.
Knowledge of application security architecture, threat modelling, and secure coding practices.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Working knowledge of programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Go, Python, or similar technologies.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC will be an advantage.
