Ghanaian musician, Kofi has made a controversial statement, which is currently causing stir on social media.
According to the rising star, Most of the artistes in the music industry do not qualify to take the title of musicians. In his point of view, a musician is a person who can put together meaningful words and sounds to make music. Therefore, a musician is someone who is able to play at least one musical instrument. He then went ahead to name a few artistes who should desist from calling themselves musicians. He mentioned the likes of Sarkodie, Tinny, Guru, Stonebwoy, Joyce Blessing, Anita Afriyie among others. According to him, such artistes should rather consider themselves as composers and rappers instead of using the musician tag.
He furthered that if they wish to hold the musician title, then they should go back to school and learn how to play musical instruments. It is then that they would be qualified to use the musician tag. He said this whilst speaking to DJ Budah in a virtual interview on New Mighty FM during their entertainment segment.
Per the fast rising Ghanaian musician, Kofi Invisible’s calculation, a majority of Ghanaian artistes cannot claim the musician title. This is because they are only good at putting words together. Kofi Invisible classifies such artistes as voice recording instruments. The reason being that, the only put words together and record without apply any other musical technique. He emphasized that, Ghanaian artistes up their game. That is to say that they should take time off to learn how to play instruments. This will make them complete musicians.
