Before we proceed with what you can do to recoup your lost or harmed WAEC certificate, let us advise you first on behalf of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) that results upgrading is fake and not part of the Council’s process.
The Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe in an interview stated that WAEC does not and will never upgrade any result, she added that “no WAEC staff will also contact you in any way to upgrade your result for you”
The WAEC representative’s remark follows some corrupt people via social media professing to be working with WAEC and promising to upgrade results of students at an expense.
As per Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the database is secured and can not be messed with. She included the Board has a framework for institutions and tertiary institutions for checking the credibility of any WAEC results or endorsement so any forged one will be effectively distinguished.
How to recover lost or damaged WAEC BECE/WASCCE certificate
Currently, the West African Examination Council does not issue duplicatecertificates. This means that once your certificate has been given to you by your School there is no way they will reissue another certificate when it gets lost or damaged.
WAEC, however, now issues Attestation of Results for certificates which have been misplaced or damaged. The Attestation of result is as valid as the original lost or damaged certificate.
The Council only issues Attestation of Results to individual candidates or persons for their possession. The Attestation when ready must be collected personally by applicants from the Offices of WAEC in Accra or your region.
The non-profit-making organization requires applicants to provide the following details for the issuance of Attestation;
- Your Name (in full as used in the examination)
- The Name, Month and Year of Examination.
- Your Index Number
- Passport photograph
- A valid identification document.
- GH¢350.00 Subject to review by the council.
