The Ghana Police service is conducting a recruitment for young Ghanaians who are interested in joining any of the eligible categories in the service. The portal will be open on 15th November, 2025. Basic Requirement
All Applicants shall satisfy these requirements in addition to the specific requirement for a specific category. An Applicant must:
- be a Ghanaian by birth;
- be of good character;
- be without criminal records;
- not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment;
- not be more than the age stated for a specific category by
1/11/2025 - be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches (163cm) for females;
- be physically and medically fit by Ghana Police Service standards:
- have 5 passes in BECE including English and Mathematics;
- be ready to undergo basic Police training and other forms of training:
- have completed National Service for graduate applicants.
Categories Of Entry For The Ghana Police Service Recruitment
A. General Duty Recruits
- must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years by 1/11/2025.
- must possess a minimum of five passes in SSSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English.
B. Tradesmen Recruits
An applicant who applies to this category must satisfy the requirements stated under the specific sub-category below:
- Motor Vehicle Mechanics:
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025 and must possess any of the following:
- GES (COVET) Certificate I or Certificate Il or National Proficiency
- I or ll Certificates in Automobile Engineering;
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Vehicle Mechanic;
- City & Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering;
- City & Guilds in Intermediate (Internal Combustion Engines and Motor Vehicle)
- NVTI Proficiency Certificate / or Certificate Il
- Drivers/Riders
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- should either possess five (5) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE or
- GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate Il or National Proficiency
- I or II Certificates in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City & Guilds Certificate in any Technical or Vocational Programme or GES/NACVET/GSS in any Technical or Vocational Programme
- should possess Drivers’ License ‘B’ or above which should not be less than two (2) years old.
- Must possess Riders’ License ‘A which should not be less than two (2) years old.
- Electricians
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025
- Must possess either GES (COVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or Il Certificates in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- Electrical Engineering Technology Part I (GES) in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Il or Certificate I or Certificate Il in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
Plumbers & Masons
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- Must possess either GES (COTVET) Certificate 1 or Certificate Il or National Proficiency I or Il Certificates in Plumbing and Masonry or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- NVTI Proficiency Il or Certificate I or Certificate Il in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programmes.
- Painting/Sign Writing
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025
- Must possess either GES (COVET) Certificate I or Certificate Il or National Proficiency I or Il Certificates in Painting/Sign Writing or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Painting/Sign writing in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
- City and Guilds Certificate in Painting/Sign writing in any Technical or Vocational Programme or

- Tailors/Seamstress

- GES Intermediate Certificate in Tailoring in any Technical or Vocational Programme or

- Wood Construction Technology (Carpentry)
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- Must posses either GES (COVET) Certificate I or Certificate Il or National Proficiency I or I Certificates in Carpentry or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Wood Construction Technology in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- City and Guilds Certificate in Carpentry/Joinery in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- NVTI Proficiency Il or Certificate I or Certificate Il in Wood Construction in any Technical or Vocational Programme
- Welder & Steel Bender
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- Must posses either GES (COVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or Il Certificates in Welding and Fabrication or
- GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Technology in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- NVTI Proficiency Il or Certificate I or Certificate Il in Welding and Fabrication in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- Refrigeration
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- Must posses either GES (COVET) Certificate 1 or Certificate ll or
National Proficiency I or Il Certificates in Refrigeration or- GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- NVTI Proficiency Il or Certificate I or Certificate Il in Refrigeration any Technical or Vocational Programme.
- Sportsmen
- must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years by 1/11/2025.
- proven track record in recognized sports discipline.
- be proficient in any of the following field:
- Boxing
- Football
- Handball
- Basketball
- Hockey
- Tennis
- Table tennis
- Volleyball
- Athletics (Track & Field)
- Badminton
- Arm Wrestling
- Martial Art
- Meet Ghana Police Service physical standards.
- Pass full medical examination.
- Exhibit discipline, good character and team spirit. pass sports specific trials during recruitment.
- Shortlisted players or professionals will undergo justification in their respective sports disciplines applicants affiliated with clubs and actively participate in recognized sports association leagues shall have an added advantage during the selection process.
- Band
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must possess five (5) passes in SSSCE/ WASSCE
- must have any of the following:
- ability to sight-read musical notes.
- ability to play woodwind or Brass instruments.
- Proficiency in basic music (ABRSM) Theory Grade 4 will be an added advantage.
C. Graduates (General Duty):
- Degree Holders:
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from any recognized university.
- HND/Holders:
- must not be more than 32 years by 1/11/2025
- must hold HND in any field of study from a recognized Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
- Diploma holders:
- must not be more than 32 years by 1/11/2025.
- must hold a Diploma in any field of study from a recognized Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
D. Medical Professionals
- Medical Doctors
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025. must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent in addition to a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council
- must have at least one (1) year post qualification working experience in a recognized health facility.
- Medical Specialist
- Should be 40 years by 1/11/2025.
- Must be a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana:
- must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from a recognized College: plus, a relevant Post Graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GPS/WACS/WACP) in addition to at least two (2) years
post qualification experience in any of the following professions;- General Surgeons;
- Obstetrics / Gynecologists:

- be registered with the Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana with at least one(1) year post National Service working experience as a pharmacist.
- Must be a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.
- Nursing Services
- must not be more than 32 years for HND/Certificate holders and 35 years for degree holders by 1/11/2025
- Has to be registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council
- must possess at least a Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the relevant area of Nursing listed below;

- Have a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and a qualification in any of the speciality listed below with at least two (2) years post qualification experience:

- Medical Laboratory Scientists

- must have Bsc in HND/Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Physician Assistant
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must have a Bsc. Physician Assistantship (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and two (2) years post qualification experience.
- must have permanently registrated with the Ghana Medical
and Dental Council.
- Certified Registered Anesthetists
- Applicant must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025. must have Bsc or Advance Diploma in Anesthesia.
- Health Informatics
- You should not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- Have a degree, HND or Diploma in health Statistics.
- Clinical Nutritionist/Dieticians
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must have Bsc. in Nutrition (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from a university accredited by the Ghana
- Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a nutritionist in a recognised health facility.
- Physiotherapist
- Candidate must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- MSc. Physiotherapy from a university accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Physiotherapist in a recognised health facility.
- Public Health Officers
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must have Bsc. Environmental Science or Bsc. Public Health (Environmental Health or Disease Control Option) (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from a University accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board., with at least
- must have one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Public Health Officer in a recognised health facility.
- BMS / HISTO Technologist
- Must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025. must have Bsc in Histopathology with Histo-Technology background.
- Pharmacy Technologists
- Applicant must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- SSSCE/WASSCE together with HND in Pharmacy
- Technology from a recognized institution plus two (2) years post qualification experience..
- Sonographers
- must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
- must have Bsc in Sonography.
E. Religious Affairs
- Ordained Minister Or Chaplain.
- must not be more than 40 years by 1/11/2025
- Have at least a first degree in Theology.
- Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognized Christian Bodies.
- IMAM
- must not be more than 40 years by 1/11/2025
- Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with an excellent Knowledge in Arabic.
Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies, the office of the National/ Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission or other similar nationally recognized Muslim
