UPL, a global leader in sustainable agriculture, is seeking a Cocoa Officer to join its Ghanaian subsidiary, Callighana. The position is based in Accra and offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative and sustainable cocoa solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Growing the Callighana Brand on the Ground
You’ll be at the heart of our field marketing efforts, bringing the Callighana brand to life where it matters most. From cocoa farms to community gatherings, you’ll help increase brand visibility through hands-on promotional activities. You’ll represent Callighana at field days, farmer trainings, demonstrations, and local events, ensuring our banners, posters, demo kits, and farmer guides are used effectively. In cocoa-growing communities, you’ll be the face and voice of the brand.
Promoting the Cocoa Portfolio
Your role will include showcasing Callighana’s cocoa inputs as complete, stage-specific solutions for farmers. You’ll support new product launches, seasonal campaigns, and promotional drives, helping farmers and agro-dealers clearly understand how each product adds value. A key part of your work will be breaking down technical product information into simple, practical benefits farmers can relate to and trust.
Engaging Farmers and Dealers
You’ll organize and lead farmer meetings, field demonstrations, and training sessions. This includes educating farmers, cooperatives, and agro-dealers on proper product use, safety, and benefits. By building strong, long-term relationships, you’ll help foster confidence, loyalty, and trust in the Callighana brand.
Supporting Sales and Market Growth
Working closely with the sales team, you’ll help drive performance across the cocoa portfolio. You’ll identify high-potential cocoa zones, lead farmers, and key influencers for targeted activities. Along the way, you’ll gather valuable market insights—tracking competitor activity, farmer feedback, and emerging trends—to support smarter marketing and sales decisions.
Reporting and Team Coordination
You’ll regularly report on field activities, reach, and impact, tracking farmer engagement and product adoption. Your feedback from the field will play an important role in refining and strengthening Callighana’s marketing strategies.
What they’re Looking For
Qualifications & Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Marketing, or a related field is required. You should have 2–5 years of experience in agricultural input promotion, field marketing, or cocoa extension. Experience supporting product launches or brand campaigns will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies
You should be a strong communicator with the ability to present ideas clearly and influence diverse audiences. A solid understanding of cocoa production systems and input use is essential. You’ll need to balance technical knowledge with marketing and sales goals, and be comfortable working in rural environments with farmers, dealers, and other stakeholders.
Personal Qualities
They are looking for someone energetic, confident, and brand-conscious, with a strong results-driven mindset. Integrity and professionalism are non-negotiable. You should enjoy being on the move and be willing to travel extensively across cocoa-growing regions.
