Italian Serie A club AS Roma has revealed Black Stars striker Felix Afena-Gyan has signed a new 4-year contract with them.

This means that the teenage striker for the Black Stars has signed a long-term contract that will keep him at the Satdio Olimpico till the year 2026.

Afena-Gyan said after inking the contract, “I am incredibly thrilled to have signed this contract: ever since I arrived at this club my ambition was to make the first-team and since I did that my life has changed significantly.

“Now I simply need to focus on getting better; I’m motivated to start the new season in the best way possible.”

The new contract would provide the Ghanaian the chance to continue developing at the club, according to Tiago Pinto, general manager of the team.

Felix has a lot of room to grow, and under Jose Mourinho’s direction, who is essential to the development of our young players, he will have the chance to maximize that potential.

This contract extension is yet another illustration of how our first-team squad and our academy setup are becoming more and more integrated.

In 22 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s team in the 2021–2022 season, Afena-Gyan scored twice.

Following Roma’s triumph over Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final in May, Afena-Gyan became the first Ghanaian football player to claim the trophy.
