There is an Open Position At Pioneer Food Cannery Ghana. This reputable Tuna production company has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety(EHS) Manager role in Tema, Ghana, to manage EHS activities within the Plant and implement measures and processes developed as directed by the Head of QHSSE in accordance with corporate EHS policies and procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for compliance to Environmental Management of the organization, ensuring that Plant Environmental Systems are of the highest standards and in compliance with regulatory provisions.
  • Be responsible for policies and practices that ensure good occupational health of employees and visitors alike.

  • Be responsible for the Safety function of the organization; ensuring that Plant Safety standards/procedures are of the highest standards and in compliance with regulatory provisions Accountable for good housekeeping practices within area of responsibility and ensuring a safe working environment for team.
  • Personnel – Management and development of all WWTP and Health, Safety & Environment Department personnel. Assist in the development of other departments’ personnel in the areas of Environment, Health and Safety.
  • Ensure all incident/accident, near miss or property damages are investigated and the appropriate reports are made available to the Plant Director within the stipulated time.
  • Track Environmental Health and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPI) identifying the trends and propose measures to address the factors contributing to the trends.
  • Champion safety and ensure that it becomes part of the company’s culture.
  • Liaise with the appropriate agencies on Environmental, Health and Safety issues.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory limits/bodies on release of substances, which may harm the environment.
  • Liaise with production and other departments to ensure good housekeeping standards and cleanliness.
  • Ensure “PERSIS” are in place and conducted within the given time frame.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of WWTP personnel and all personnel who visit or work in and around the WWTP. Identify all Health and Safety hazards and risks related to the tasks of WWTP and manage them per established HIRA to prevent incidents.
  • In charge of the EHS team in the absence HOD.
  • Manage technical staff for the WWTP Section of the EHS department to ensure delivery per performance KPIs.
  • Provide information on WWTP performance to internal and external regulating bodies (EHS department, EPA, Local authorities, Engineering HOD).
  • Manage all Food Safety and Quality issues in your area of responsibility in line with Company policy.
  • Deliver any adhoc projects/duties requested by Management.

Profile:

  • A University graduate in Environmental Science, Engineering and Natural Resource.
  • A second degree from a reputable institution will be appreciable
  • At least five years or more working experience with three years in managing position with EHS responsibilities
  • Knowledge in EHS in a manufacturing environment strongly recommended
  • Strong leadership ability, dynamic and sensitive to personnel issues
  • Must be capable of handling complexities and legalities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Computer literate; at least working knowledge of MS Office
