Backend Developer At PolicyCON

The services of a Backend Developer is needed At PolicyCON. The position holder will report to the Chief Technical Officer (CTO)

Main Responsibilities:

Backend developer who will primarily work in PHP, Python, and Ruby. The selected candidate must have in-depth knowledge of basic algorithms and data structures. The developer will be responsible for building and maintaining functional and stable web applications. Familiarity with JavaScript, AWS, Git, or MySQL is an advantage. Excellent programming skills and the appetite for developing innovative applications will make the candidate the right choice for us.

Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developer with server-side logic
Building reusable code and libraries for future use
Optimisation of the application for maximum speed and scalability
Implementation of security and data protection
Design and implementation of data storage solutions

Technical Skills Required (Hard Skills):

Fluency or understanding of specific languages, such as Python, PHP, Java, Ruby, and JavaScript.
Strong understanding of frameworks such as NodeJS, Django, Flask, Bottle, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, etc
Strong understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools.
Focus on efficiency, user experience, and process improvement.
Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as LESS and SASS
Understanding accessibility and security compliance
User authentication and authorisation between multiple systems, servers, and environments
Integration of various data sources and databases into one system
Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
AI Machine learning will be an added advantage
Excellent project and time management skills.
Strong problem solving and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently or with a group.
